Since 2001, the Lynbrook Robotics Team has continued to provide a hands-on engineering experience for high school students. We have continued to blaze ahead, improving every single year, catapulting into a place of prominence in the engineering community. We have won several awards, from the Delphi Technology award in 2004, for the most innovative robot design, to consistently placing as semi-finalists each year in competitions. But most importantly, the Team is a thriving breeding ground for the engineers of tomorrow. Well versed in mechanics, electronics, programming, fundraising, and even marketing, members of the Lynbrook Robotics Team is at the forefront of the engineering talent that will guide our nation into the 21st century.
We define our continuing success in accomplishing the following goals:
- Foster innovation and creativity that can be applied to real world situations.
- Develop team working skills, organization, and leadership among members.
- Encourage a broader understanding & appreciation of science & technology.
- Provide a hands-on experience to robotics and engineering in general.
The focus of the club is its involvement in the FIRST robotics competition. In 6 weeks, our team must construct a complex robot with functions to complete various tasks in an arena styled competition. Students are bombarded with engineering problems that can be difficult for today’s mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Not only do we overcome technical difficulties, we find ways to efficiently manage and organize human resources. Another activity we hope to pursue this year is the MIT-Lemelson InvenTeams program. This program provides funding for the construction of a proposed invention, allowing the team to fully exercise our creativity.
The Lynbrook Robotics Team has shown a knack for building character and responsibility in its members. The work we put into the robotics team, has taught us more than we could have ever learned in the classroom. This is why we come to you, to ask for your help in keeping our team afloat. We would really appreciate any donation your organization might be able to offer us. By supporting Lynbrook Robotics, you help build the path for a better future and your name will appear in our prestigious list of supporters.
