Chesapeake Regional
Dear Team,
At the Chesapeake FIRST Robotics Regional competition, the Lynbrook Robotics Team performed well, and ranked 13th on a field of 60 teams after the seeding rounds. We were chosen as part of the 8th (of 8) alliance. While we were defeated in the quarterfinals against the #1 alliance, our team gave a strong performance, scoring nearly all the points of our alliance. We were improving both our robot and our gameplay throughout the competition, and expect to deliver a stronger performance at the Silicon Valley Regional April 1-2, 2011.
We were extremely pleased to receive the 2nd highest award at the event, the “Engineering Inspiration Award”. Some of the reasons cited were:
- hosting a robotics event ( CalGames 2011 )
- our fund raising efforts for the district schools ( Symantec grant )
- helping Fremont HS start their robotics team
- helping Prospect High School start their team
- mentoring the Miller XBOTs FIRST Lego Team
- fund raising at FleetWeek / Blue Angels
- sending out newsletters of our activities
- creating the 1st place 2011 Safety Animation, a public service video.
The team had a great time in Baltimore where we found the people warm and helpful. Our hotel was close to the Inner Harbor of Chesapeake Bay, where we enjoyed a beautiful view with unseasonably warm weather. This year’s team is close knit and very responsible, and I enjoyed their company throughout our trip.
